Travel Bucket List

What’s On Your Bucket List?

Collage Of Beautiful Locations, Animals, and Aquatic Activities

If you’re anything like me, there’s some traveling on your bucket list!  Where do you want to go?  And, more importantly, what is your plan to get there?

There’s a lot of things going on in life, but I try and scratch one thing off my bucket list at least every 5 years.  Here’s my bucket list:

Visit Iceland
Learn to Surf
Visit Ireland
Make Babies
Learn to capture moments
Stop frying food and start tasting it
loose 50 pounds
See All 50 States:
States Left:

  • Hawaii
  • Maine
  • Oregon

Teach my kids to Snowski
Take a European River Cruise
Show my kids the world in a way so they appreciate it
Take a meaningful trip to a 3rd world country
Check out Iceland
Take an amazing trip including New Zealand, Austrailia, Tahiti, Thailand, China, Japan
Take a trip with my mom….just my mom.
Build a winery
Create an empire
Plant an amazing garden and watch it grow.
Ride a Harley along Highway 1
Make my own fairy tale in a castle
Publish my own cookbook
Go on an African Safari

In making plans for my life and trying to accomplish them, other amazing things happen along the way.  When you keep your goals in mind throughout life, you leave fewer stones unturned and really get to experience life the way it should be.

Let me just tell you a couple of stories about Bucket List Items that I have crossed off.  At the top is Visit Iceland.  My brother was stationed in Keflavik, Iceland.  And, I was blessed to take this trip with my Granny.   It’s a time I’ll always treasure.  First, my brother was less of an alcoholic then.  Second, I got to go with my Granny.  She has Alzheimer’s now and can’t travel, not to mention she’s 80 years old.  If you haven’t been to Iceland, you should go to at least visit the Blue Lagoon!

Take a meaningful trip to a 3rd world country was a great one.  I was blessed to be appointed as a Soy Ambassador with the Illinois Soybean Association.  We took a WISHH trip to Guatemala and Nicaragua to learn about the use of soy to improve childhood nutrition in these countries.  It was great…overall.

Learning to surf was another great one.  I was in California for spring break and this great Canadian guy who had ridden his motorcycle to Panama was on his way back and stopped at the hostel my friends and I were staying at.  Talk about a neat person.  Well, he happened to be pretty good at surfing.  He helped me learn, I helped him……nevermind…..I learned how to surf!

I got married and made babies…..2 of them!  They drive me crazy most days, but I wouldn’t give them up for anything.  Two boys, full of energy and life and keep me active all the time.  I should have had them younger, but nobody told me that if you wait to have kids until you can afford them that you’re either too old to have them or never do have them.  I was too old!

So, when you’re getting to your bucket list, you have to prioritize.  I’ve put off finishing off the 50 states because I want to take my kids to the ones left.  I’ve put taking a trip with my mom on the top, you never know how long people will be around.  And, some things I think should happen during the golden years, so I hope I live that long or just have nothing better to do before then so I can cross them off.

I’ll ask you this, where do you want to go and how can I help you get there?
